What I Need From You
Firstly, thank you for wanting to be part of the Mona Lisa Million.
Secondly, I want to get you linked to the image as soon as possible so that people can start to click through to your site, so have a look at the options below and let me know what you’d like to do.
Option 1
You just want to be part of the Mona Lisa Million and you don’t really care about banners, mouseovers and anchored links.
If that’s the case all I need from you is:
A. The Name Of Your Site
This the name of your site as you’d like it to be displayed whenever I write about it.
B. The URL Of Your Site
The url is the web address of your site. For example the url of my site is http://mistergoodguy.com/
That’s it.
If that’s all you want that’s absolutely fine. I’ll get that set up for you and I’ll make sure I mention you in a post as a new addition to the Mona Lisa.
Option 2
You like the SEO benefits of this project and want control over the url’s, the anchored links, and the images.
If that’s the case, I’ll need the following:
1. The Name Of Your Site
This the name of your site as you’d like it to be displayed whenever I write about it.
2. The Destination URL From The Mona Lisa Image
Which page do you want people to land on when they click your section on the Mona Lisa image? The url is the address of the page you want to link to. For example the url for this page is http://mistergoodguy.com/what-i-need-from-you/ the url of my front page is http://mistergoodguy.com/
3. Mouseover Image
The mouseover image appears when you run your mouse over any occupied section of the Mona Lisa image.
Please supply a non-animated image in .jpg or .gif format of a corresponding size to your area of the Mona Lisa. Or if you wish I can create a basic image for you.
The following are examples of the the most common sizes:
4. Mouseover Text
This is the text that appears in a box when you run your mouse over your section. This could be a description of your site, product or service and it can be up to 140 characters (including spaces). The grid reference is displayed first, then your site name and then your 140 characters. The number at the end is how many unique clicks your link has received.
5. 150 Word Text With One Anchored Link
Please provide a text of upto 150 words which I’ll publish in a post to highlight your site. This is an opportunity to sell yourself, your site, your product or service. A chance to convince people to click through to your site. The text could be a bio, a sales pitch, a mini guest post, an introduction to an existing post, anything related to you or your site, your product or your service.
The anchored link is simply the word or combination of words that create the clickable link. This link is usually blue and underlined. To get the greatest benefit from this link you might want to make the anchor text relevant to what you do or sell. In the example below Tim Brownson uses the anchor “Certified Life Coach”.
This is important in helping the search engines connect you with your prospective clients or audience. And this is true whether you’re a big business going hell for leather to boost your profit margin, or a humble blogger looking to make pocket money through adsense.
Here’s an introduction to anchored links for your information and guidance.
Please make it clear which words you wish to use as the anchor.
6. The URL For The Anchored Link Above
Which page do you want people to land on when they click your anchored link? It doesn’t have to be the same page you chose at 2 above.
7. Banner Image
Please supply a non-animated image in .jpg or .gif format. Standard sizes are 125×125 pixels or 250×125 pixels but you can supply any size of image as long as it doesn’t exceed 250px wide x125px high.
If you prefer I can create a basic banner image for you, but be aware it will be basic.
The banner will be displayed with the 150 word text as in the Tim Brownson example above.
Here’s an example of the two standard sizes to give you an idea of scale.:
8. Twitter ID (Optional)
Although not strictly part of the package, from time to time I may make reference to your Twitter account on this site and your site on my Twitter account.
Option 3
You want a mix of option 1 and option 2.
No problem, just let me know what you need.
