It’s Tuesday, and after spending the weekend recovering from the last few weeks of the school term and catching up on my sleep, I’ve also finally managed to catch up on my emails. I think, and correct me if I’m wrong, everyone who needs a reply from me, has had a reply?
If anyone is still waiting on me then give me a big shout and I’ll put it right.
Now that the pressure is sort of off with me not having to spend hours on the road every day doing school runs, I want to seize the moment and get this project fulfilling its potential.
I know I’ve been doing this for six months now and I know that progress has been slooooow, but every single day I believe will be the day when it takes off. Sometimes it’s a naive belief but I cling to it anyway!
Sometimes I laugh at the idea that I want this project to raise one million dollars… sometimes I feel embarrassed even thinking it, let alone writing it or saying it aloud… but despite the obvious lack of money rolling in, I still believe it’s possible… which is why I persist.
I persist, because more than ever I want this to work.
I want to remain a stay at home dad after the summer holidays – and if this project doesn’t take off – my stay at home dad days will be over and I’ll curse the day I let the opportunity slip through my fingers. I have another post nearly completed which covers my back-story and illustrates why this project is important on a personal level – hopefully I’ll get that out tomorrow, if not sooner!!
I also persist because it would be so fantastic to know that we are helping others through this project by donating 50% of the after tax profits to good causes.
I also love the fact that there are some fabulous people already associated with the Mona Lisa Million Project who help me every day with tweets, retweets, Stumbles and assistance behind the scenes through email.
I really want so much to see my early adopters do very well indeed. And so I feel compelled to make it work so that when there are thousands of eyes on this site, those eyes get to see you fabulous folks!
There’ll come a point in the project when there are just so many people involved, that beyond the bare minimum of what I commit to doing – which is a mention in a post – the opportunity to submit a promotional post – and some mentions on Twitter – I’ll struggle to provide more for new additions. But I will always find time to promote those of you who supported me so well in the early days.
So in an effort to make this the turning point – the day on which the project takes off – I’ve decided to try a spot of video blogging. It’s nothing more than an introduction, but I thought you might like to see that there’s a real person behind all of this… a frantically busy and often chaotic person, but a real person none-the-less.
Have a great day… and enjoy the video!!
Dave.

Dang. Videos are blocked at the workplace. But I will say I love the various Mona Lisa graphics you’ve been using.

Hi Erica, what horrid work people you have!! Don’t they know it’s only little ol’ me?!
I’ve enjoyed finding different images of the Mona Lisa, but the pool is a bit shallow, I may have to recycle them soon.

Hahahaha!! “You don’t have a face for radio”
I love that. That’s a compliment and I’m hanging that up on my wall.
Thanks Strawbs, I felt the human touch might help. Doing the vids is also great because it took me exactly 30 seconds!! What’s not to like about that??

I’ve just had a tweet from @bloggerdad saying you’re hot, but I’m hotter.
Just thought you should know . . *ahem*
I have nothing but admiration for you Mr Dave.
I can’t wait to get home so I can see the video – nice work (I presume)
Now what about videoed tea parties?

Pixie!!! You’re totally wonderful for saying that.
Just don’t be drinking tea while you watch the video. I can’t be held responsible for choking or keyboard damage/screen!! If you snort the tea don’t say you weren;t warned!
PS OK, but you supply the cake!
OH I loved seeing the video and hearing you speak and I think this will be quite the project and I just know it will succeed…
Thank you for your kind words on my blog post….
tea is one thing I have never snorted…..face for radio has me laughing too

Thank you Patricia, that’s nice to hear. I really hope to make a success of this project but I know it won’t happen without the support of fabulous people like you. Thank YOU!!

Hi Vilate,
Ooops. It’s on there, I just forgot to chnage the Reserved marker for an image. It’s at R2/151 about half way up on the left hand side. Incidentally do you have a message you want to include in the pop up box?
Ah, Mr. Fowler, that was too cool.
It was awesome to finally see your smile in motion and to hear that little tweety bird voice of yours!
Seriously, you could be a video blogger. You should definitely try it. It’s WAY faster than writing.

Sean, you smashing chap, you!
I enjoyed your stint as a video blogger, so I thought I’d try.
Might give it another go soon.
Nice to see you here my friend!!
No kidding, yo. If you video blog, it might solve a lot of time issues – especially if you’re okay with a single take.

I’m seriously toying with the idea. I imagine it would take me a while to get into the swing of video blogging but it might be well worth the effort, if I can get good enough to put across a coherent message. I liked your style while you were doing it. You were very at ease with it, and I’d like to try to get to that point. It would be great to see you doing a video again soon. Any plans to do so?
Yes, definitely. If Lori had her way I’d be doing it already. She wants to do a joint show of some sort, I just haven’t had the time to justify it. The move to Ohio should help with some of those time crunches, though, so it might be sooner rather than later.

I look forward to the Lori and Sean Show. Or will that be the Sean and Lori Show?
And we want to see you do well also Dave. Cheers for the post and the lovely vid. If you were in America, us girls would call you a “cutie patootie.” While that might not win you more mates, it would certainly win over the laaadies! What else matters?

Hahahaha. Melissa, I love your take on this. I don’t I’ve ever been described as a cutie patootie, but I love it.
I’m not ashamed to admit that winning over the laaadies would be pretty cool!!
