Welcome to Tuesday’s daily update on the Mona Lisa Million!

I’m sticking with UK charities as the lead in to these daily update posts because I’m from the UK and I know that these are genuine good causes. I would love to feature some good causes from other parts of the world so if you have any suggestions to offer I’m all ears!!

Today’s featured charity is Shelter Box. scroll down to read the rest of the article.

MisterGoodGuy.com is the home of the Mona Lisa Million Project: Sponsor a section of the Mona Lisa and know that you’re helping to support good causes whilst at the same time getting some excellent promotion for your website or business. Every month at least 50% of the after tax profits will be donated to good causes nominated and chosen by the readers. To sponsor a section of the image visit this page and find out how I’ll help you promote your website.

Shelter Box

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that specialises in emergency shelter. They respond to swiftly to disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes, by sending boxes containing shelter, warmth and dignity to those affected. Each box provides aid for an extended family of up to 10 people and costs £490 (GBP), including delivery to the location it’s needed.

I’ve chosen to support Shelter Box indirectly through Just Giving and specifically through the Bloggers for Haiti who have so far raised £4,351.50. The page was set up by English Mum as it explains in this post: Bloggers for Haiti, with a follow up piece here: With a Little Help From My Friends. And what great friends English Mum has. Loads of bloggers wrote about Bloggers for Haiti and pushed the message far and wide.

But there are also a number of other people raising money for Shelter Box through Just Giving.

Colorado Bob of TM Fish Camp Just Giving Page has raised £49,477.87. Incredible!!! And oh so brilliant.

Jill Davies has raised a huge amount of money for all sorts of good causes including Shelter Boxes for Haiti. Unfortunately I can’t find an external link to Jill. If you know where I can link to Jill, please let me know.

And in case you go looking at those pages and notice that the last contributions were made weeks ago and you start wondering whether emergency shelters are still needed six months after the earthquakes… I can tell you without reservation that the shelters definitely are still needed.

There are so many families still living under tarpaulin sheets in squalor who would benefit immensely from a Shelter Box. Go take a look at the Shelter Box’s own site and see the article published only yesterday – Haiti: Six Months On.

I’d love to see those Just Giving pages revitalised and I’d love to start with the Bloggers For Haiti page.

Mona Lisa Million

Just because I can…..

Three sites from the Mona Lisa chosen randomly on a whim. They’re all very good and the people behind them are fantastic and friendly:

Help me help the people of Haiti. Maybe you know someone who would like to see their site promoted here? If so, please send them my way. I’ll promote their site here and on Twitter and I’ll donate some of the profits to good causes, like the one mentioned here today.

Thank you
