Obsessed With The Mona Lisa

Slowly but surely I’m becoming obsessed with this project. Not in a bad way, but in a creative and good way.

It’s really helping me to focus my attention on building a better future for myself and other people.

Much of my spare time is taken up with thinking about the project. And even when I’m trying to relax I find thoughts of the site and the project drifting into my mind. This is important to me and I know it could easily turn out to be important to lots of other people too, but I know I have to watch that I don’t neglect other areas of responsibility.

I’ll come back to my possible ‘obsessed’ status in a moment but there are a few things left over from last week that I want to pick up again.

Promoting Good Causes

Making this site about others definitely feels the way to go and I’m still looking to find people who want to promote a good cause on this site.

New Lungs 4 Chuck

On Friday I posted about Chuck Campbell and his raffle to raise money for a double lung transplant. This is an incredibly touching cause and if you go via Tim Brownson‘s site he’s offering to donate his new book “How to be Rich and Happy” to anyone who enters Chucks raffle. I won’t repeat it all here but if you’re interested go and check out the post New Lungs For Chuck.

Free Places On Mona

There are still some free places available on the Mona Lisa and if you’ve got a genuine website or blog I’d love you to take part. It’s only the people with one page opt in sites, sites promising $8000 a month residual income or six page made for adsense sites that I want to avoid. They’re not genuine endeavours but your site is! So come and join in.

Buttons And Banners

Danny Cooper who has a clever yet simple way to raise money for charity has kindly offered to create some buttons and banners for those people with sites on the Mona Lisa to proudly declare their association with the project. It’s a great offer Danny, thank you – but it would be nice to see a few more suggestions – at which point I’ll put some options to the vote.

If you want to see what a banner or button might look like on your site then go have a look at Strawberry Fields site all about renovating a Mazda MX5. In the space of only a few days the site has had a fabulous makeover and is now displaying an image link to the Mona Lisa. The site looks incredible. Really, do go and see it.

Spreading The Word

I’m delighted with the way Mister Good Guy has shot up the Alexa rankings and whilst it’s a crude and inaccurate measure of success, I’m clinging to it for dear life. This site is important to me and I want it to do well, not just for myself but for the people who get linked from here and the people we’ll eventually be able to help by donating the better part of the proceeds.

Take a look at these 5 quick things you could do to help the site gain visibility, credibility and authority thereby improving the benefit of the links you all receive. Some of them take just seconds, so please anything you can do to help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks to Claire over at Twenty Something Mum. Claire writes about life with two toddlers but very kindly she also writes about the Mona Lisa Million. Thanks Claire!

Have I Left You Bewildered?

If you’re already on the Mona Lisa and you’re struggling with the email I sent you asking for information about your site (I understand why. It wasn’t exactly a well structured request!), you might want to have a look at this page outlining the options in a more user friendly way. There’s no rush and no pressure but I’d hate to think you’re sitting there in a bewildered state all because of me. :D

So Am I Obsessed?

Maybe “driven” is a better word than obsessed. The Mona Lisa hasn’t taken over my life and nor will I let it. First and foremost I’m a family man and that is one of the reasons I’m doing this. I love being a Stay At Home Dad – it’s a fantastic thing to be with my children and watch them grow up!

Not many fathers get to see life from this perspective so I know I’m lucky and I want to make the most of the opportunity.

So aside from helping other people, which is a massive driving influence, I’m also motivated to make this work for my family and children. Although the biggest thing on my mind right now, is making it work for you – the people reading this site and those of you with a piece of the Mona Lisa – which is why I’m very keen to recognise the effort that you’re putting in to spread the word.

So if in the coming weeks I seem somewhat obsessed with certain aspects of this project, I hope you’ll forgive me and understand I’ve set myself a massive task and feel compelled to succeed.

Thanks for reading and do let me know what you think of the project so far.

Hey Dave,

Good work on the more simplified page, your email was a bit confusing, for me at least.

There is no rush on banner requirements, just remember from today I start charging $1000 per banner

Just kiddin’!

Keep up the good work :-)

Thanks Danny, I’m learning as I go.

$1000 per banner. I’ve missed a trick. Here’s me giving stuff away when I could be charging! Nuts!
