Soulful Equine™

“I believe in a healthy horse from the inside out.” ~Stephanie

The site provides a centralized resource covering, basic horse care, horse health, equine nutrition and feeding, but they also focus heavily on the natural equine, covering natural horse care and non toxic natural horse care products.

The detailed information is presented in a way that is easy to understand and incredibly helpful. For example, Stephanie goes into great detail about natural hoof care:

“The horse’s hooves suffer the most when we do not treat their bodies well.”

…she points out the horses bodies are extremely efficient at prioritizing nutrient allocation, with hooves usually near the bottom of the priorities, identifying that hoof problems could potentially point to other problems in the body.

Hoof care knowledge comes from years of experience and whilst Stephanie openly shares her knowledge she also encourages you to improve your own knowledge by speaking to your hoof care professional, but if you don’t have one, don’t worry because there’s also great advice on how to choose a hoof care professional.

How to care for horses

For those who want to know how to care for horses there are, as you might expect, ‘the basics’, but there are also detailed articles giving specialist advice such as “Non toxic fly control for horses

“Heavy usage of toxic chemicals for fly control is not only unnecessary but is harmful to your horse’s health and to yours.”

The article is about having interventions in place without resorting to chemicals. There’s advice on breaking the fly cycle using fly predators, fly traps and natural fly sprays. There are also plenty of links to other trusted resources.

Natural horse care consulting

Writing on topics such as “Paddock Paradise” (a guide to natural horse boarding and natural horse care) you can tell that Stephanie and Sharon have the greatest of respect for these magnificent animals and they clearly love what they do.

“Each horse is an individual. You must learn to listen to each horse AS an individual.”

“They are a model of beauty, knowledge, and power. They are the most noble of creatures.”

Between them Stephanie and Sharon have distilled years of experience into this excellent resource. When readers leave comments they are quick to reply and generous in offering further guidance, information and support. It’s no surprise then that they provide a natural horse care consulting and coaching service. Go check it out!

There’s plenty of insight and useful reviews. If you love horses, you’ll love Soulful Equine.

My wife owned horses for years but having lots of children put paid to that. This site takes me back waking up before work to tend to them and going out last thing at night to check on them. I recognise a lot of the terms used and the techniques for caring for them. :)
