Mona Lisa Million: Wednesday 8 September 2010

Post image for Mona Lisa Million: Wednesday 8 September 2010

Hi, Welcome to Wednesday on the Mona Lisa Million Project!

So have you got a good cause you’d like to nominate to receive the one hundred dollars I put up as a donation?

Come on! You must have some cause or charity you feel strongly about? I’ll bet they could use $100 (which I’m happy to convert into a convenient currency depending on where the cause is based).

Do it. Nominate a good cause and force me to find out how to install a poll on this site. I haven’t  created a poll before and frankly I’ve been avoiding it in case it turns out to be a painful experience.

OR

Don’t nominate a cause and I’ll donate the cash to the cause “I” nominated. If you want to know what that was you’ll need to go check it out. And while you’re there NOMINATE A CAUSE OF YOUR OWN!

:)

What else do I have to tell you?

- Well, I’m on a roll with the regular posts which is great because over the last few days I’ve put loads of lovely links out there for the search engines to chew on and hopefully a few people who’ve read the posts will have clicked through to your sites.

- I’m not on a roll with my email commitments. I feel desperately bad about this and see it as a failing. I’m not going to whip myself with a birch twig over it, but I might give myself a jolly good talking to. Seriously, I feel bad about not getting back to so many of you and I’m super keen not to keep rolling out a giant list of excuses mainly because other people have the same pressures and commitments and yet they seem to get things done (and I hate them for it! ;-) )

- Don’t forget to check out some of the sites on the Mona Lisa and also in the sidebars.

What is the Mona Lisa Million Project?

The aim of the project is to create something worth talking about. To that end the goal of the the Mona Lisa Million Project is to raise a cool One Million Dollars! That’s pretty spectacular in its own right but it’s even more remarkable because 25% of the income will be donated to good causes every month.

How will the money be raised? Well, that’s also worth talking about because the money will be raised by selling the most famous painting in the world, the Mona Lisa, to people who want some absolutely cracking promotion for their website or online business.

This is a unique project offering real value to sponsors. It’s not just ownership of a piece of the Mona Lisa, it’s also the in-post mentions as I update the progress of the project on the blog along with the opportunity to have a featured post dedicated solely to you, your site, service or product. Today’s featured post:

REVISITED

This is an opportunity to revisit some of the earlier sites to take up residence on the Mona Lisa. I haven’t mentioned the sites by name but if you like the sound of the post title click through and have a look.

personal challenge: september

I am not your rolling wheels, I am the highway

You’re Beautiful!…Yes, YOU!

GOOD CAUSES

Help me find a home for $100. It has to be a good cause and it can’t be your private yacht fund.

I’m looking for nominations which I’ll later put to the vote. If you get cracking and nominate a cause and then round up a ton of people to vote for your cause, it or they could be ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS better off at the end of September.

Nominate a good cause here !

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Like it or not big numbers hold sway with people, and whilst it would be nice to pretend I don’t care whether I have one or one thousand subscribers, it’s not true, I do care. I care because numbers are important to the success of this project. The more social proof people see, the more likely they are to subscribe because they instantly feel there’s something worth subscribing to. And there’s the point… I wouldn’t ask you to do this if there wasn’t something worth subscribing to.

Perhaps you could help by subscribing or recommending the site to a friend. All help greatly appreciated.

Help me build the subscriber count – Subscribe via RSS or Email and get updates automatically.

SHARE IT

The more you share this site and the blog, the more people will come and see what we’re up to.

They’ll see the great sites on the Mona Lisa, they’ll see the great sites in the sidebars, they’ll see the great things you say in the comments… and they’ll more than likely follow the links back to your sites!

It would be particularly helpful if you could Stumble, Digg or Tweet but there are a range of sharing options below for your convenience.

Thanks for reading
Dave
