Just The Mona Lisa

The image of the Mona Lisa is located on another Domain – MonaLisaMillion.com – which means that your sites are getting a link from there as well as from the text links posted on Mister Good Guy.

The technology behind the ability to link to sites from the image comes from a ‘script’ I purchased from Texmedia.de. Their Million Pixel Script required a financial investment but I saw it as a worthwhile investment.

It’s a good piece of kit but I had to adapt it to suit my purposes. Straight out of the box it’s set up to work like the Million Dollar Homepage i.e. anyone can come along and buy pixels for a fixed price and the whole thing is automated. If you go to MonaLisaMillion.com you’ll see only a fairly ugly looking front screen with an image link which brings you back to this site.

It’s not my intention to pretty that site up as it’s not intended that anyone will see it. It’s there just to host the image and the links from it.

The great thing about this is I can just pop the image into any post I write here or on any other site. You could even display it on your own site if you felt so inclined – but be warned it’s very wide at 800 pixels and would probably obscure most of your sideabar content.

The other clever thing it does is count how many unique clicks each site gets and this is displayed as the number at the end of the mouseover text. If you run your mouse over one of the occupied sections you’ll see what I mean.

What it won’t count though is how many clicks you get through from this site. For that you’ll have to look at your own analytics information.
