How To Be Rich And Happy (& Riding The Slipstream)

I know a guy called Tim Brownson. Well, I say I know him, even though I’ve never met him. I’ve followed his blog for two years and I’ve spoken to him on the phone a few times and exchanged emails. Like me, he’s British, unlike me he lives in Florida with the lizards – I still live in Britain.

The thing with Tim, who is incidentally a professional life coach, is that he’s a straight talking, no nonsense kind of guy, the sort you trust even if you’ve never met him, And whether I like it or not, I’ve come to trust and believe in him. I’m not trying to tell you I have a teenage crush on him or anything. I’m just saying he’s a good guy.

Why am I telling you all this?

Well, because I feed off his energy, enthusiasm and self belief.

You see, Tim has set himself a huge goal to give away one million copies of his book How To Be Rich And Happy to people who would potentially benefit from it most.

That is a massive challenge. Firstly he has to raise $1 million to get the books printed and then he has to overcome the challenge of distributing those books to one million people. So actually, it’s probably two massive challenges.

Not only that, but he also has to deal with the negativity of people who say he can’t possibly achieve his goal and should scale back his ambition.

Does any of this deter him? It does not. Tim doesn’t give a Flying Fortress what the doubters tell him. He believes in himself but more than that he takes daily action to move closer to his goal.

Do I believe he’ll make it? Oh hell yeah! And if he doesn’t, he’ll rupture something(else) trying.

So why do I hang on to his coattails?

Because I get the benefit of riding in his slipstream. I see him doing it and that reinforces my own belief that I can do it too.

Even though I’m still giving away sections of the Mona Lisa and haven’t made a single penny I believe I can (with your help) get this project to raise $1million.

How To Be Rich And Happy is one of the reasons I’m doing this project and one of the reasons I’ve set myself such a big goal.

The book is great, it helped me, I know it will help others and I’d dearly love to see Tim succeed.

As motivated and driven Tim is, he could still use some help.

One of the issues Tim could use some help with is distribution of the books so please pop across and see if you can help him and while you’re at it you could also dare to dream big.

Thank you.

I’ll leave you with this today:

If there’s someone in your world who inspires you to achieve more, grab on to their coattails and ride the slipstream.

You two inspire a big ole smile from me. I *know* Tim from twitter, too. He’s got amazing energy and positive gusto which certainly rubs off in inter-space. Love it. Dave, what I do I need to do to ride your coat tails? I haven’t quite figured out how to help/work with you. I’m diggin’ it but not sure how to proceed.
Big hugs,
Lisa

Hi Lisa, so we have a mutual friend! That’s pretty cool. Is there anyone who doesn’t like that man?

I’m glad you came back. Let me help you by getting you linked from the Mona Lisa. You already laid down your marker on this post. And as per the other post, you could help me with a link within a post back to this site. I’ll send you the other details in an email.

How does that sound? :D

Great! I look forward to your email. I don’t usually blog about specific websites unless it somehow relates to my overall theme. I write about life, nature, health, family, etc. Maybe you could help me understand exactly “what” your website/service can do. I know you want to highlight “good” things that are happening out there in the world. And I certainly love Tim’s work, but my site is not about generating wealth per se…but lifestyle design and conscious living…actually sort of of re thinking modern life in general…I don’t sell anything but people come to my site for inspiration…alot of people are rethinking life and wondering where to start…I certainly do not have all the answers (or any) but as our family goes through this process I try to share what I’m learning along the way in case it helps anyone.

@ Lisa – Not sure if you know this, but How To Be Rich and Happy is not about creating wealth at all. The title is somewhat provocative because we know most people think money is the answer to their problems. We spend half of the book telling them it isn’t!

Now can we all have a group hug? ;-)

Lisa,

No problem, I’ve written fairly extensively on the site about what it is I do and why I’m doing it so in that sense I can definitely help you out. :)

The first three posts I wrote here sum it up quite nicely.

1. Introducing The Mona Lisa Million
2. And All That I Knew Was The Hole In My Shoe
3. Aiming high. Very high.

The blog post request was a condition of securing a free space on the Mona Lisa as detailed in the last post you commented on. Fortunately I recognised a blog post wouldn’t suit everybody and I said I’d be happy to settle for a blogroll link instead. I’m accomodating that way! :D

I felt I had to set some conditions, because just like every other successful site this one needs some links coming back to it.

I don’t know if any of what I’ve said here helps but I’ll follow it up with an email fairly shortly.

Now, as much as I like Tim, I’m not sure I’m comfortable with a group hug ;)

Hi Tim!
I confess I have not read your book (yet). Perhaps this is one of those loud knock on the door synchornicities?! I am supposed to be working on a story today, not my blog, but I will sneak in a peek. And, yes, absolutely a group hug would be fantastic!
Be good!

Lisa
