I’ve been mentioning for a while that I’m looking for good causes to promote as the lead in to my updates on the Mona Lisa Million. The idea being that it extends the value of this project and brings an added interest. At the very least it’s a way for good causes to get the all important links to boost the visibility of their own sites in the search rankings and later, when this project is better known, it will be a way to reach an established audience.

I don’t have a guest post to bring you today so I thought I’d lead in with a quick mention of a charity here in the UK that I’ve supported in the past.

Great Ormond Street Hosptial Children’s Charity

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) based in London provides care for sick children and their families and is the largest centre for research into childhood illnesses outside the US and Canada. The hospital is a world renowned centre of excellence and very tellingly its motto is ‘The child first and always’.

The hospital first opened its doors in 1852 with just ten beds, and now over 150 years on, hospital has 335 beds and facilities to accommodate over 1000 parents overnight every week.

Every year the dedicated staff treat over 22,000 inpatients and 77,000 outpatients.

The charity needs to raise more than £50 Million (GBP) a year to keep Great Ormond Street Hospital at the forefront of international paediatric medicine by:
• contributing to the rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital;
• funding the most up-to-date equipment;
• supporting research into, and development of, breakthrough treatments; and
• providing accommodation and other support services for children and their families.

At Great Ormond Street Hosptial Amazing things Happen Every Day. The official website has some great information about the charity and fundraising efforts why not click through and find out how you can help Great Ormond Street Hospital?

…But not before you check out the latest sites on the Mona Lisa Million:

Smitten By Britain
Melissa Richards-Stoey is an American with an insatiable appetite for all things British. She’s also the mum of a Briton, which makes her as pleased as Punch. A life long Britophile, she lived in England from 1988 – 1991 and now misses it immensely. She created her blog Smitten by Britain as an outlet for expressing her passion for that green and pleasant land and to meet others who feel the same.

Many of her readers are British ex-pats living in America or American ex-pats living in Britain. Together they discuss British culture, travel, telly, music and film. When not blogging Melissa spends her free time living in Britain in her head. And yes, it rains there too.

Ramblings Of A Mum On The Run – Lorraine is working mum of 1 live-wire little boy, making her way in the world of HR after 2 years at home with her toddler. Recently moved back to Scotland after being sent to Coventry for 4 years.
