Giving Away Another 10 Sections Of The Mona Lisa

Post image for Giving Away Another 10 Sections Of The Mona Lisa

Hi,

If this is your first time here let me just say Hello and explain that this project is aimed at raising over $1 million by auctioning off sections of the Mona Lisa image.

If over 1 million is raised then 85% of the after tax and fees proceeds will be donated to help the aid appeal in Haiti.

I’m also supporting another good cause the 1 Million Book Giveaway with 5% if the proceeds being donated to that cause.

I haven’t started the auctions yet, because right now I’m giving it away. Ten sites are already linked from the Mona Lisa and I would love to see another ten linked by the end of the day.

Being linked from the image is not the only element of this project – it’s so much more than that, including SEO and promotional benefits. You can read more about the full benefits in this post entitled Introducing the Mona Lisa Million.

Please wait for the image to load.

The Mona Lisa Million Giveaway

The first ten readers to comment on this post who express an interest in acquiring a spot on the image will be offered a section as shown in the graphic near the foot of this post. (Comment moderation is off so you’ll have no difficulty getting through.)

This is provided your site meets the terms and conditions, specifically points 17, 18 & 19 (reproduced at the bottom of the page).

These conditions might seem a bit harsh but I don’t want this project to be associated with made for adsense sites and spammy one page operations designed to relieve people of their hard earned in exchange pretty much nothing of value.

So who do I want here?

It boils down to this: I want you if you have a genuine site or a genuine business.

You don’t need to have the best looking site in the world, the greatest blog in the world or the greatest product or service in the world. You just need to be genuine. As long as you’re genuine and your site, product or service is genuine and designed to help, engage or entertain you’ll be in.

The sites already on the Mona Lisa are all fantastic in my book. As are the sites shown on the Flowers image – not all of them are pro-bloggers or businesses, in fact most of them are blogs – but they are all genuine endeavours. Hopefully this will give you an additional idea of the standard I’m looking for.

If you want me to look at your site in advance, you can email me at: davefowler [at] mistergoodguy [dot] com

Hi Dave,

Good luck and keep pushing, I’ve been following you on twitter. Can’t think of any feedback to give re:site, I’ll keep reading and following and hopefully be a bit more help later on! It’s looking great so far – can’t offer any more inspiration than a quote :)

Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.- Ralph Waldo Emerson

P.S. I know you start giving the spaces away this morning but if there’s any drop outs let me know!

Hi Strawberry Fields, thanks for the quote, I’ll keep it in mind as I’m quite fond of happiness. :D

As for the drop outs, why would you wait? These spaces are available now so I’ll allocate the first one to you if you want it? I’m assuming this would be for Maurice?? :D

Hi Dave

I have just been directed to your site by a fellow blogger – Sandy over at Babybaby and think its a fantastic idea, I really hope you are able to meet your goal.
If there are spaces available and my blog is suitable I would love a piece of the Mona Lisa.

Keep up the good work

Hi Lorraine,

I’ve just seen Sandy’s post and it’s absolutely terrific!

I’m just about to run out of the house to walk the dog (and the children) but I’ll drop you an email when I get back.

Thank you for showing an interest in the project, I’d be delighted to offer you a piece of the Mona Lisa! :)

Hi Dave, I found you via Sandy at Baby Baby, and Tara at Sticky Fingers- I love this idea and wish I had thought of it (puts our Bloggers for Haiti in the shade!).

I would love to be included if I may? And I have a suggestion for a charity, as on one of the pages it says you were looking for suggestions. Can I suggest a charity for Neo Natal babies? I’m not sure if you will be donating just to US charities, but if not, Bliss is a very worthy cause for all Prem babies- their work certainly helped my son.

My blog is at http://20somethingmum.blogspot.com

Thank you xxx

Hi Claire, I’m so sorry you got caught in the spam filter. I’ll thrash it with a birch twig later. In the meantime, I delighted you want to be part of this and I’ll get you hooked up with a section ASAP.

As for Bloggers For Haiti that was one of the factors that drove me to build this project. I read a post in which that well loved British Mummy Blogger Tara Cain donated the money intended to buy Sunday Dinner. I felt bad that I couldn’t also donate and a convoluted chain of thought conceived the Mona Lisa Million.

As far as charity suggestions are concerned I’m looking worldwide. The Mona Lisa is my main project at the moment but I’ll set up others to run alongside and it’s at that point I’ll be looking for suggestions but this is certainly something I would want to support. Until then I’m looking for good causes to promote and again, I’d be very happy to support this cause.

I’ll send you an email about the link to the Mona Lisa shortly.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Pippa, there certainly is a space for you. And spammy is not a word I would ever use within one million miles of you!

The blog post would be brilliant! The links coming into this site will determine how valuable the outbound links are. The more the better. :D

Stand by for an email.

What a wonderful idea – I’d love the chance to join in. Have you considered SANDS as a charity – they were really supportive when we thought Babygirl would arrive too soon

Will mention this great idea on my blog this week.

Hi Hannah, thanks for wanting to be part of this!

If you have a direct affiliation with SANDS I’d love to have a guest post from you. If you have a look at my post about supporting good causes, you’ll find a bit more detail.

At some later stage once this project is established, I’ll start another one and I’ll be looking for another good cause to support – SANDS could be one of them, but more about that nearer the time.

In the meantime I’ll send you an email requesting a few details about your site and link preferences etc.

And if you could mention the project on your blog that would be much appreciated. :)

Dave.

Hi Dave, I’d love to participate if there is still room. I clicked thru to your site from one of your follower’s tweets. I was trying to buy my way in, but couldn’t figure out how. But it’s late and I’m a little fuzzy.
