I’ve made a few changes, mainly to simplify things for you and also for me.
I got to feeling that the range of SEO options was too daunting and on reflection provided only minimal extra value so I’ve lightly pruned that element.
I want to provide a valuable service but I don’t want to scare people off by over complicating it (as I have a tendency to do).
I’ve amended Introducing The Mona Lisa Million to reflect those changes, and I’ve also amended the Terms and Conditions.
You still get the link from the Mona Lisa (which is hosted at MonaLisaMillion.com) to a page of your choice. It doesn’t have to be your front page.
You still get the mouseover text and mouseover image to draw people into clicking.
You still get to promote your site with a 150 word text published here on MisterGoodGuy.com.
And within that text… You still get the valuable anchored text link back to your site. It’s important because it helps the search engines to connect you with your customers or your audience.
So, what’s changed?
I’ve removed the feature of listing the most recent additions on the Mona Lisa Main Page. The honest reason is it’s a pain to administer and as the list changes so frequently it’s of little benefit to you. This was not part of the terms and conditions in any case, it was something I was trying out.
What’s changed with the T&Cs?
13. Previously: You may also submit an image in the form of a non-animated .gif or .jpg banner 250 pixels (w) by 125 pixels (h) or 125×125px Now: You may also submit an image in the form of a non-animated .gif or .jpg banner maximum size 250 pixels(w) by 125 pixels(h).
(Originally, for the sake of uniformity, I wanted to control the size of the banners allowing only two size options, but now I’m happy to accept images of all sizes up to a maximum of 250x125px)
13. Previously: I’ll create a basic banner displaying your site name. Now: I’ll provide a basic banner.
(This gives me more option with banner design)
15. (Relating to the link on the Full List Of Sites On The Mona Lisa) Previously: This link will either be your site name or a relevant anchored text of reasonable length. Now: This link will be your site name.
(There will be over 900 links from this page and the value of the links will be heavily diluted negating the value of the anchor. Besides, the purpose of that page is to be no more than a reference.)
45. Previously: Pixels ‘gifted’ to you are subject to the conditions above Now: Sections of the Mona Lisa Image ‘gifted’ to you by me, are subject to these terms and conditions save for those relating to auctions and refunds as they do not apply.
(I’ve been giving away sections of the Mona Lisa and even though no payment has been made the the terms and conditions still apply but obviously not those relation to payments, auctions and refunds. It’s a minor point but needed clarifying.)
What else is new?
All things being equal, tomorrow I should have some news about a new feature with a great twist on sidebar advertising.
